Meet The Aesthetic Practice Partners Team
Kara McClanahan
CEO & Executive Consultant
Kara formed Aesthetic Practice Partners in 2013, after originally launching KDS Consulting LLC in 2004. She has over 28 years of experience in the aesthetics industry, starting out as an esthetician and spa manager. She has worked with physician business owners, practice leaders, private equity groups, medical device, and skincare companies to facilitate strategic business change and differentiation in the competitive marketplace.
Her career has spanned the fields of neurology, primary care, dermatology and plastic surgery; with the last 16 years dedicated to the cosmetic and aesthetic space. She has held roles such as: Vice President of Operations for a large 57 practice national concierge & cosmetic focused healthcare company, Practice Administrator in both Cosmetic Dermatology and Plastic Surgery, VP of Sales in the aesthetic medical device space and a private Practice Management Consultant. Kara has obtained a prestigious advanced certification and is one of only a handful of “Board Certified Medical Practice Executives” by the American Medical Group Management Association. Her education is in Business Administration and Health Care Administration. She is also a certified Wellness and Professional Coach.
Kara was the Managing Director of Beauty for Good, a 501c3 Nonprofit Organization, and more recently has launched her own Nonprofit Organization, Empower Esthetics, that empowers women in industry leadership through mentorship, community service, and provides educational grants for individuals of low income, those with learning disabilities and domestic abuse survivors seeking to elevate their lives through careers in aesthetics. She is a sought-after speaker and a respected consultant among aesthetic businesses and delivers practice development training for several cosmetic manufacturer and distributors. She is avid community volunteer and the proud wife of a 32-year veteran of Law Enforcement, as well as mother of 5! In 2024, she also became a “Glamma”.
While her family leads her, her passion for aesthetics drives her!
